Each job its own garment: the certified clothes

When we think of a job or a task to be performed, we sometimes take it for granted that we want a number of tools and, of course, dress appropriately.

It is a mental association that we do automatically, but dictated by the specific issues related to the operation to be performed. Working clothes, in fact, represent the first device to protect our safety, and must comply with certain regulations.

Workwear must be functional in order to facilitate that we must make, and provide adequate protection against potential risks inherent in a specific job.

In this case, is referred to as PPE, Personal Protective Equipment, which are defined as follows: "any equipment intended to be worn and held by the worker to protect against one or more risks likely to threaten the safety and health at work, and any addition or accessory intended for this purpose (article 40 Legislative Decree 19 September 1994, # 626)

This definition includes, of course, work clothes, that's why we propose certified workwear lines dedicated to the specific needs of many customers.

High visibility clothing

There is not a single construction site where it is not obligatory to wear high visibility workwear, protective clothing that must be used to indicate the presence of the user to vehicle operators or other devices both during the daylight hours and at night.

Their use is mandatory in many workplaces, but we were asked by a customer to add this feature to their uniforms, because the staff needed to cross a busy street separating two company’s offices. We have been open up to create their clothing line that included the reflective bands.

Antifouling clothing

A worker who uses these types of clothing, often sees them as a robust workwear. Actually he is wearing garments that reflect specific technical guidelines, such as no external pockets and hidden closing elements, studs, stainless buckles, quick acting fasteners (velcro) and stitching inside.

Antacid clothing

Then, there is the category of anti-acid clothing, which fabric must comply with the appropriate resistance standards measured by the permeation time of a corrosive substance.

Antistatic clothing

Do not underestimate the antistatic properties of a garment even if they seem less important. Static electricity is a surficial accumulation of electrical charges on an insulating material body. This accumulation takes place by electrification (e.g. rubbing) of insulation materials especially in dry environment. These tensions are bearers of very low energy and in the presence of conductive atmosphere conditions or body (humidity) are formed and run down continuously without attracting any attention, but can be potentially dangerous when, for example, we are dealing with highly volatile, flammable or explosive substances.

Trivalent clothing

These specifications for these types of workwear, are present in different clothes, but they can also be condensed into a single garment. Cast Bolzonella offers, in fact, its trivalent workwear line that provides flame resistant fabric and antacid, antistatic protection.

Fire and heat protection

Flame retardant workwear

There are more specific work clothes that reflect, however, certain standards in their realization. Consider, for example, welding services, for which it is essential to use a flame retardant fabric because of incandescent metal splinters. This implies restrictions in choosing the fabric, which must be heat-resistant synthetic fibres. These are only flammable in the presence of much higher oxygen levels than those found in the air and, at the same time, are able to reduce the temperature of the combustion gases.

Fire fighting garment

Are made with a specific spinning nylon Ripstop fabric that resists tearing and tear by inserting each 0.6 centimetres, a rugged nylon filament with a larger section than the rest of the material. In case of a cut it is difficult expanding because it is confined to the most robust filaments. In general, this type of garments have a three layer structure; an external one that protects against heat, the median that allows body’s water vapor escaping and the inner thermal barrier.

Aluminised heat proof clothing

Designed on the same assumptions as fire protection, is designed for industrial applications, such as foundries and steel mills, where you have to support the most extreme situations. These garments provide full operator protection and are also equipped with respiratory apparatus compartments.

Cold protection clothing

As for the freezer room clothing, this type of work clothes must have ability to external thermal insulation and at the same time ensure garment’s breathability of the water vapour to prevent sweat formation.

Food and health care clothing

However, there are same sectors, that can be defined as "borderline", that do not require special workwear  certifications but it is essential being used in the workplace, in particular regarding food and health care sectors. In these areas the clothes must not avoid any specific hazard but have to adapting to many situations where they may encounter.

In conclusion

Regardless of whether or not the specific PPE workwear, depending on the workplace and the job to be done, we want to reaffirm a concept that is valid for all garments: workwear is the first brick at the workplace safety that we must always build within our working environment.
